F. Derby

I love the idea of creating sounds. I have always been very interested in music throughout my life but I generally do not have my ipod around, I always loose it or forget it in my house. I think it makes the world more interesting though. I love listening to sounds. I walked through the streets of Portland, Maine and heard all kinds of interesting things; people walking, biking, whistling, singing. Sound is so essential to everything that goes on in our lives. We hear things and that is how some people make music and how some people get through chores. Whenever I am in the house doing laundry or cooking dinner, I put on the TV I do not care what is on it as long as there is some sort of noise in my background. My project is part of what I hear through my everyday life. There is running water, people walking through the city of Portland, me eating an apple, and getting coffee at the coffee shop. This project was incredibly fascinating to me and I found so many ways to enjoy the silence and noise around me.
